Returns Due to Manufacturing Defects

We accept returns for defective items strictly in cases of genuine manufacturing faults.

What is a Manufacturing Defect? Examples include:

  • Faulty blade grinds.
  • Loose or incorrectly fitted handle components.
  • Broken mechanisms (for folding knives) immediately upon unboxing.

Product Warranty: All Knives Studio products are covered by a statutory 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, effective from the date of receipt.

What is NOT considered a manufacturing defect (and is ineligible for warranty return): Damage resulting from improper use, such as:

  • Using the knife for purposes other than normal cutting (e.g., as a bottle opener).
  • Dropping the item.
  • Cutting on hard or inappropriate surfaces.
  • Washing the item in a dishwasher.
  • Failure to properly dry the item after washing.

Returns for Change of Mind (Right of Withdrawal)

If there are no manufacturing defects, you may return the item within 14 calendar days of receipt by exercising your right of withdrawal (distance selling regulations).

Conditions for Non-Defective Returns:

  • Product Condition: The item must be unused, undamaged, and returned in its original, unopened packaging.
  • Notification: You must clearly communicate your intention to return the product to us within the 14-day period.
  • Packaging Requirements: Please ensure the item is securely packed in an appropriate shipping box with adequate padding. Do not use the product's original display box as the sole outer shipping container. We reserve the right to refuse a refund if the item is damaged during return shipping due to poor packaging.

Refund Processing (Right of Withdrawal & Defective Returns)

  • Product Price: Once we receive the returned items and confirm they meet the required conditions, we will refund the original purchase price.
  • Inspection/Processing Time: Upon receipt, the returned item will undergo a quality inspection, which typically takes 3–5 business days. Following a successful inspection, the refund will be processed. Please note: if a manufacturing defect is claimed and the item requires assessment by the manufacturer or an external warranty center, processing times may be longer depending on their specific policies.

Return Shipping Costs

  • Change of Mind Returns: The customer is fully responsible for the shipping costs associated with returning the goods to Knives Studio.
  • Manufacturing Defects: If the return is confirmed to be due to a genuine manufacturing defect, Knives Studio will cover the return shipping costs (we will provide a prepaid label or arrange collection).
  • Original Shipping Costs: We will refund the cost of the original delivery up to the price of our cheapest standard shipping option. If you selected a more expensive option (e.g., express shipping), the difference will not be refunded.

Policy on Failed Deliveries

If a package is returned to Knives Studio due to customer error (e.g., incorrect/incomplete address, refusal of shipment, or failure to collect the package from the carrier), the refund will be processed as follows:

  • Purchase Price Refunded: The cost of the goods will be refunded.
  • Shipping Costs Deducted: All direct costs incurred by Knives Studio for both the original outbound delivery and the return shipping (as charged by the carrier) will be deducted from the refund amount. This applies even if the initial order qualified for free or discounted shipping.

We strive to process and dispatch all orders as quickly as possible.

  • Generally, orders are processed and handed over to the shipping carrier within 1 to 3 business days following payment confirmation.
  • In practice, 99% of orders are dispatched to the carrier on the same or the next business day, depending on the time the order was placed.
  • We make every effort to adhere to these estimates. However, please be aware that processing times are not guaranteed. Delays may occur during high-volume periods (such as holidays) or due to unforeseen logistical issues regarding stock availability, fulfillment, or carrier schedules. Your patience in such instances is greatly appreciated.

Delivery Times and Geographical Coverage

The provided delivery times are estimates based on typical carrier performance. Please be aware that actual delivery may be subject to delays due to various unforeseen factors.

Geographical Coverage: We primarily ship to countries within the European Union (EU). However, please note that delivery to certain remote islands or hard-to-reach areas may be subject to exceptions or additional charges. These variations depend on the specific carrier or delivery option selected at checkout. If your delivery address falls into one of these areas, we will contact you as soon as possible after your order is placed.
