Shapton Diamond Glass Lapping Plate 50100
The Shapton Diamond Glass Lapping Plate 50100 flattens and refreshes whetstones rated 500 grit or finer. A glass base and electrodeposited diamond surface help restore a level, consistent sharpening surface. Dimensions 253 × 80 × 24 mm, working surface 245 × 72 mm, approximate weight 750 g. Made in Japan. Holder not included.
The Shapton Diamond Glass Lapping Plate 50100 restores the flatness of worn whetstones, removes clogging and evens their surface texture. Its glass base provides a stable reference surface, while electrodeposited diamonds perform the lapping.
Compatibility
Designed for sharpening stones rated 500 grit or finer. Do not use it on coarser stones or diamond-electroplated sharpening stones.
How to Use
Wet the stone and plate, following the stone manufacturer’s preparation instructions. Mark a pencil grid on the stone, then move it forwards, backwards and diagonally across the stable plate. Use the working surface evenly and rinse the grooves when slurry collects. Disappearing pencil lines show where the surfaces have made contact. Rinse the plate promptly after use.
